Full, tight, concentrated nose with some development. Dark fruit, oak, subtle spiciness, plum and blackberry. Flattering and inviting. Big and direct, but not vulgar or unbalanced. Fullish, with soft tannins. Violet sweetness and sweet liquorice. Oaky and tasty. Some prunes in the dark fruit. Just a nice touch of mint. And actually quite good grip. In it's particular style I liked this. It was not too sweet and not at all vulgar. Good Aussie Shiraz that benefit from the sligtly cooler climate in Clare I suppose.

A minerally aspect tends to overpower expressions of plums on the nose. Medium to full in weight, conceals the high alchohol (15%) fairly well with stewed plums and spicy licorice flavours combining with a meaty character. Not great length at the end, finishes tannic and a little salty. Best taken with food.

My wife and I are big fans of Kilikanoon, and this one is superb value, with a wonderful, buttery nose (like caramel popcorn, says my wife). If you're a Mollydooker fan, you'll love this typical Aussie Shiraz.

84-86?? Not my style at all. Nose was of dark fruit and licorice. This was an in your face wine with a lot of power. Typical shiraz over powering sweet fruit. Koolaid like.

Typical Clare - black fruits, licorice and some spice. Medium bodied finish, drying, but palate not completely balanced. If I had another, I wouldn't try again for a year or so. At 40AUD however, that's unlikely.
