I can't help but think this is some way past its prime, should the bottle be representative. Garnet core with an orange rim, the nose was full of sou bois, mushroom and tons of soy sauce. Palate held up well, there is good structure and acid and the quality level of the juice shows. I find that the vibrancy of fruit though is a notch below optimal and showing signs of fatigue. Got some dried orchard fruits, cranberries etc. I can imagine that in its prime it's quite the bottle, but I'm also confused because 25 years isn't too tall of an ask of a wine of this caliber. I hope I'll have the chance to re-assess this again.

Perfect fill. Popped and poured. Great out of the bottle, showing maturity in color, expressive cherry and red fruits on the nose. Nice secondary elements. A balanced, fully mature 97 that was a great first wine and should be drunk now as it faded after about 45 minutes in the glass. Very enjoyable (if I ignore the cost). A-

Drank over 5 hours. The nose was very shy at first and only showed a little bit more after lots of swirling and air time in the bottle. Just a hint of red and blue fruits. Palate had more red fruit, nicely ripe for the vintage. Very sleek and silky texture. Pretty and elegant with metallic undertones. While this was very good and clearly well made, there just wasn't any thing exciting about it. The finish was medium length and a little flat.

Knightsbridge Dom Perignon Dinner (Carlos - Highwood, IL): Very ripe red cherry and boysenberry aromas starting to show age. Moderate baking spice in background. Nuanced from start though middle, just not very long. At its peak now.

Paulée of the Albany Chapter of the Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin (Le Canard Enchainé, Kingston, NY): OMG! Boom. Nose of cherries and minerals. So long and complex, it boggles the mind. Just another level up from these other very good wines. This is why people pay ridiculous prices for a bottle of wine. Goes on and on and on.

Balthazar with Burgundy and More (Balthazar, NYC): Bright and translucent, dark sweet fruit, plums perhaps, with some spice. Very tasty. I wish all burgs tasted like this. I'd be a convert. Yes!

Knightsbridge 20th Anniversary Dom Perignon Dinner (Carlos): Full ruby red. Lovely spice box nose of red cherry and briar. Nice rich spicy black cherry on the palate with a long round finish. Drinking wonderfully right now.
