My last bottle of this - and it was finished too. Gone with the wind. Nice ride with Ioppa- lots of joy in those bottles - although some bottle variation.

I seem to return to this wine every third week of October. Lol. Almost gave up on this after my last bottle was flawed. No worries. This was a beauty. Very developed but still very fresh with raspberry, earthy notes, fine acidity and fine grained tannins. It is a developed style maybe not for everyone, but such elegance and finesse.

I find this delicate and complex, fresh with plenty red fruit, smooth acidity, finely layered taste spectrum. Contemplative wine, probably better alone, or with plain salted potato chips, than competing with food.

Quite a youthful wine with a lean texture but plenty of stuffing with flavors of dark cherry and truffles. Plenty of acidity keeps this lively and fresh and the finish is smooth if a bit rustic and lacking great complexity. Still, a lovely wine to drink with food.

Third bottle. Been uncertain about this one. Last bottle decanted for two hours - surprisingly helped a lot. Quite nice wine to go with pasta with white truffle.

Farge : Svært avbleket tvers igjennom. Duft: Sherratt og noe 'anilin' Tørket frukt Smak: av lær og noe morkent tre. Knastørr opplevelse. Etter hvert var det noe grums og mer sviske preg (uten sødmen). Er nok litt for gammel, men det kan være flasken. Uansett over toppen. 2. Dag udrikkelig.

From memory: Medium garnet core, orange rim. Good, but unusual. On the nose the age is evident with earth, leather, mushrooms and honey being the dominant aroma components. On the palate, however, things get a bit confusing. There’s no clearly identifiable fruit, but the wine still has a pronounced sweetness to it. The tannins are all gone, but there’s fortunately enough acidity to ensure a sense of balance. All in all an enjoyable experience though, especially when you factor price into the equation.

Stor flaskvariation hos det här vinet. Överraskande ungdomlig doft den här gången med mogna hallon och körsbär kompletterat med blommor och lakrits. I munnen är det relativt tanninrikt, intensivt och bra syra. Minst lika bra som förra flaskan.

App: medium brick-red Aroma: classic nebbiolo nose with flowers, tar, cherries and leather. Light-bodied+, acidic and with powerfull, but available tannins. Good length.
Typical light-weight nebbiolo from Ghemme. Nicely matured, but will still keep for some years.

Ioppa Vertical at Ekenhov (Ekenhov): Elegant with good development. Almost as good as the 1997, but a bit thinner fruit.
