Fruit Day - Decanted off a small amount of sediment. Still dark garnet core with little sign of maturity. Rich and ripe dark fruit on the nose and palate. Later, the fruit started to drop and the tannins and a bit of green/herby character shows. Perfect with horseradish crusted roast beef.

{cork, 14.5%} No ullage, cork barely 20% wet, but very spongy. Holding on! Brick, hinting at tawny hue. Aged nose, composty and leathery old red, not varietal, but lovely all the same. Aromas hinting at volatility on the way. The palate is very good if you like older wine; not especially complex but with all the old wine flavours you'd expect. Bits of forest floor, milk chocolate, rotting strawberries. Someone mentioned cola - yes, that's still here! Somewhat trembling acidity, with low gritty, drying tannins. Medium weight, but the alcohol is giving it a real lift. Medium length finish, offering less interest as time goes by. For a cheapie nearly twenty years ago, you could hardly complain. Half a dozen years past its best, but still a tribute to the soundness of the original fruit and winemaking.

Fruit Day - still dark to rim. Nose of dark plum, earth (maturity showing), dark chocolate with a touch of spice. Smooth and soft on the palate (almost too velvety but there’s enough tannin left for it to have life) with cola and plum. Finish is only medium but I’m impressed this has held on this long. Drink up!

Very nice cab. Cellared for five+ years and the alcohol and fruit component imbalances have subsided. Nice cedar and spice notes with a medium finish. The nose was quite earthy with a cherry and leather component. Very garnet color and monster legs on the glass. Easily drinkable for another year or two. For the money (if treated correctly) this wine is hard to beat.

A good Cab . . . not a great one. Notes of cedar and cigar on the nose. Flavors of currant and a vegetal component - green pepper, perhaps? Not enough of a "wow" factor to make me wish I had more. Salud!

Very solid and well-made wine at this price point. Well balanced with notes of cedar, violets, blackcurrants, and hints of vanilla on the finish. This is drinking very, very well right now - so I'm not sure about the drinking window out to 2012?

Had this at a blind tasting, thought it was a decent $35 bottle from Napa. It was good, definitely some earthiness to it. Most people didn't like it at much as the McManis Cab (probably because the McManis was more easy drinking). This was a more complex wine, but it wasn't great.

Aromas of bing cherry, cedar, leather, and roses. Raspberry, plum, and earthiness on the palate. Black pepper and cherry on the finish. Firm tannins with slight acidity. Medium-bodied.

The bottle was opened 3 days before I had a chance to sample it so take this with a grain of salt. Ali vacuvined the wine. Very unique. The color was nice but the nose was very herbal. Tasted of prunes and venison.

A very good cabernet for the money. Classic varietal characteristics. True garnet in color with some evidence of bricking at the very edges. When first opened, pronounced aromas of green pepper. After 20 mins in glass, currants and bay leaf, which are echoed on the palate. Touch of tar (not much oak used?) and cedar notes. Not huge or over the top (i.e. Napa in style) this one is still probably a bit young--If you have one I'd keep for another 2-3 years and enjoy it once the green pepper has mellowed a bit. Now best with grilled meat, simple sides. Had with grilled flank steak, baked sweet potato, beans.

This Aussie Cab's color was a little thinner and had a touch of garnet. The nose was an unmistakable dark fruit covered up by bell pepper and maybe a touch of cayenne. It was unusual, the nose was actually spicy. The wine had some structure and a medium finish, b/c of the spiciness probally better with food, I was not a huge fan though.

Opened bottle initially on 7/3/06. Was to drunk to remember anything about it. Vacuum packed it with the wine saver (an awesome device). Resumed tasting tonight. Wine was extremely strong (HOT), with prenounced spices and chocolate. Had an extremely sharp finish, as if i was tasing whiskey. Maybe i didnt get the seal to vacuum correctly. I will have to buy another bottle to give it a real opinion and chance, "STAY TUNED."

Ruby color. Nose of some dark fruit, but mostly spice with some heat and vegetal notes. Flavors of dark fruits that didn't seem really ripe, and more spice. Medium bodied wine with a weak mouthfeel. The finish was once again dominated by the heat. Wasn't a big fan of this one.

Always a pleasure to spend $15 and have a very good wine. Lehmann never disappoints, and his Barossa Cab is the perfect company wine - complex but easy to drink, fine tannins that add finish but do not overwhelm.

This Cab has an unusual aspect to the bouquet, one I've never experienced before. I wouldn't have been able to put my olfactory finger on it, but another reviewer mentioned olives, and that is it! While this wasn't necessarily to my taste, I give it some credit for being different.

Very good balance between fruit and oak. A wine that will pair well with food. Excellent value for money. The complexity will benefit from a couple of years in the cellar.
