Another memorable harvest down memory lane. If I have to describe it with one word, intense is what comes to mind. The last similar vintage was 1997 when everything ripened a the same time and there was a lot of it! This harvest was the biggest in the history of Trentadue as far as total grapes made to wine. The quality of all varieties was outstanding.
Named for the original 1896 plantings, our Old Patch Red has remained the all time favorite among legions of Trentadue fans for over three decades.

The 2012 Old Patch Red Lot 38 is predominately Zin blended with Syrah, Carignane and Petite Sirah, resulting in a very fruity yet complex Rhone-like wine. The wine has dark red color with intense black aromas, blueberries and cherry cola as an immediate impression. With aeration nuances of ripe plums, vanilla, maple and cocoa are showing with a slight dose of oak and toast. On the mouth, the wine is fresh and juicy with youthful brightness, finishing long and fruity. This is a wine that will drink well with a variety of foods but it is also very enjoyable on it’s own. Our 2012 Old Patch Red Lot 38 is delicious now but it will reward your patience with 2-3 years of aging.
