"Our number one wine, from Piedmontese producer Renato Ratti, rewards the greatness of its 2006 Barolo Marcenasco, but also recognizes the leadership role the estate has played within Piedmont and the exceptional quality of the region’s recent vintages."

"This is an untamed beast. . . ."
95 Points, Wine Spectator

This blockbuster Barolo from Renato Ratti came in stock yesterday, and I jumped at the chance to offer this to my Preferred Clients at the best price anywhere! Single vineyard Barolo with these accolades –Wine of the Year from the Wine Enthusiast and 95 Points from the Wine Spectator - is impossible to find for under $40.

Renato Ratti is considered the father of the "modernist" movement in Barolo. He was the first to map the vineyards of Barolo and the first to bottle a single-vineyard Barolo. The Marcenasco vineyard site lies within the Barolo subzone of La Morra, which is known for yielding very aromatic and perfumed wines. The vineyard location has both southeast and southwest exposures and takes its name from the ancient village of "Marcenascum", which has been known for cultivating the Nebbiolo grape variety for as far back as the 12th Century.

The 2006 Renato Ratti Barolo Marcenasco is way over delivers at this price, and will age effortlessly for 20 years. This gorgeous, elegant wine is best enjoyed with food and will make an ideal match for grilled meats and aged cheeses. Take my advice and act fast on this one. It will sell out by the end of the day!
