It would be difficult to speak about top quality wine from Italy and not include Mario Schiopetto in that conversation. He is widely considered one of the founding fathers of Italian white wine and a true pioneer. His early wines helped to change perceptions of Italian white wine, forever. Mario was also responsible for introducing many modern winemaking techniques to Italy, both in the vineyard and in the wine cellar.
Towards the end of his tenure, Mario passed the reins of his property over to his children, who worked hard to continue their father's hard work and uphold his legend. The estate is now in the capable hands of the Rotolo family who have also done a fantastic job of keeping Mario's philosophy alive to this day. This is an approach born out of an unwavering desire to let his vineyards speak for themselves - to give them a voice, so to speak. [Good Pair Days]
