Penomenally tasty CdP. Huge red fruit on the nose, red currant and liquorice, with just the right amount of bretty bacon and raspberry aromas. Same on the palate, a bit hot, but oh so delish. Mild tannins, and just overflowing succulent fruit. Perhaps not the most refined CdP ever, but drinking decadently well now. Oodles of white peppery notes added on the nose as it opens up.

Good Gigondas. Nose: Doughy yeast notes immediately after opening, that dissipated and revealed dark Syrah aromas, somewhat muted. Medium body and mild tannins on the palate. Balanced, and not overly hot, which is big achievement and surprise given the 14.5% alcohol. Plenty of acid and lots of fruit. Very good food pairing wine with duck, game, and similarly flavorful but not overpowering dishes.

Decent claret, but eventually quite dissapointing. PNP it had plenty of fruit and Merlot varietal characteristics on the nose, plus some starting secondary aromas coming from the age. However, at PNP it was rather rough and disjointed on the palate, e.g. with the tannins distractingly non-integrated. In the glass, with swirling, the wine integrated in about an hour, becoming briefly quite pleasant. However, a bitter aftertaste began developing, and that began to be all I could notice. About 5 hours after opening, the rest of the wine was set aside for cooking.
