This stellar Cakebread Cab has not passed its peak. As JONRADUS noted in his 7/30/06 review, another 10 years has certainly allowed this wine to age into its full prime with fruit forward, absent tannins and delightful tobacco notes. Could maybe go a few more years. 95 rating.

Bottle opened within hours of acquisition and tasted immediately without decanting and then drank over the next 6 hours after aeration (competition with the litle woman was keen). On the nose: deeply concentrated aromas of dark cherry, blackberry and blackcurrant. On the plalate: cherry, blackberry, plum and dark chocolate flavors extend for a long, finish, with mineral tones. Even though this wine is way too young, immediate drinking is highly satisfactory. The tannins are not overpowering. For true cab lovers, they will find: big structure, full firm tannins, bright acidity and a core of intense fruit . . . up to a decade in the cellar should allow for an even greater tasting experience. If it didn't cost so daggone much, it would be simply a great daily drinking wine (LOL).

Tannins have softened nicely and bouquet and taste was right on without need for 1-4 hrs of oxidation
