Lime, lemon curd. Lanolin. Body. No surprises in any of that. Outstanding length drawn out by wash of acidity. Balance just so. Only now coming in to its own, I feel. Have two more bottles, open the next one in five years or so.

Black fruits and very dark chocolate. Umami. Bark from a smoked brisket. Molasses. Superfine talc tannin, lots of it. Excellent balance and length to burn. Seductive in a caveman type way (suits me). 93 or 94. Has years ahead of it.

Black cherry, plum, touch of cherry liqueur. Spikily spicy on opening, intense, settled with air to show an array of spices. Little earth and mint. Ample length, impressive spread of fine tannin, pleasing wash of acidity, smidge of alcohol heat keeps the balance from being outstanding. Impressive but didn’t set my heart racing. Night two: A different beast and quite delicious. Blue, black and red fruits. Fairly simple with mostly fruit showing. Gentle spice. Great drinkability and balance. I’ll stay at 92.
