2003 Rutherford Vintners Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, $16, is a bit pricey for this column; nonetheless, we included it because it's worth it, and it outdistances in quality many wines that are priced in the low twenties. Deeply Bordeaux in color; it's ripe, which is exactly what makes it taste so good. There is a nice briary/woody note to the firm texture and structure; soft spice, with all the expected flavors in some abundance: plum, dark berry, a touch of cherry and nice oak notes. Finish is soft and fairly long. Delicious. Buy lots.

Very good - Cinnamon spice, apricot and tropical fruit with a nice full body. Tasted good even after being open for three days.

Very good - Strong dark berry aroma - nice balance of fruit and earthyness on the palate
