Nose of honey, macadamia, green fig, starchy fall apple and lilac. Viscous honey on the palate. Not overly heavy, though acidity could have been more prominent. White pepper, melon, nutty, marmalade. With a touch more acid this would be phenomenal, but this bottle was still quite good

Wow. Novelty of the color aside, this is still terrific. Reminiscent of white CDP with very floral lilac and straw on the nose, and a weighty mouthfeel that coats the palate in an unreal way. Just enough acid to balance it out, but this is bigger and badder than any other pinot gris out there. I'm trying to come to terms with this not being a roussanne/marsanne blend. The only thing that says otherwise (besides the label) is the additional hint of strawberry on the palate. Magical.

Cristom wines can be rough when young, but this is terrific. No decant. Slightly strong menthal on nose with sandlewood, forest floor, and red fruits. Palate is similar, but a barrage of powerful red fruit, which defies its age. No watered down strawberries here, this is amped up red fruit and actually could go several more years minimum, but very tasty now, though fairly one dimensional on palate.
