This was a gift from a friend based on name recognition and his preference for Zinfandel. I don’t share that preference, I’m afraid, and this was a pretty basic example of what that grape can produce. Dark jammy fruit, high alcohol, a tinge of sweetness from the grapes that likely dried a bit while others on the cluster ripened. A typical Zinfandel but not anything special that I’ll remember drinking a few months hence.

Amazing wine. So glad I had patience with this one. A dry Tokaji made with Muscat. Over the years it has retained its floral and grapey Muscat notes, but has developed a LONG finish that has an underpinning of pine nuts and honey. Beautiful, creamy texture on the palate and beautiful to look at with a deep golden color. One of those wines I’ll always remember for its uniqueness and the beautiful notes it developed with time in the bottle.

I’d agree with another reviewer who said this has a saline note on the palate (and I haven’t spent the day at a State Fair). The nose promises bruised apple, white blossom, some melon (closest to Honeydew, for me). The palate isn’t bad but the saline somewhat overshadows the fruit initially. On the other hand, despite its high acidity, there a nice weightiness and finish to this wine. The fruit comes through on the back palate. It’s enjoyable.
