We started with the Shrimp Fritto Misto, then shared a Tour of Italy entree. Not a bad pairing for the meal, since it worked best among the choices we saw there.
While I didn’t expect much from the server, he sadly knew nothing about opening, pouring or keeping the glasses full. I guess that crippled the experience somewhat…
For the wine… pretty standard Sangiovese notes. The tannins overpowered the fruit a bit for my liking, but overall the wine did well cutting though the richness of the meal.

Another AMAZING bottle of first-rate Aglianico!! I guess the folks at Mastroberardino know something about grape juice… 🙌🏻
This was another one of many GREAT bottles I bought while stationed in Napoli. Luckily, I purchased 6 in a case… so there are several left.
I got to enjoy this one with Tom in downtown Dekalb Illinois & we were BLOWN AWAY with the longevity of this bottle. GREAT concentrations of fruit notes (cherry), strong tannins, leather, smoky oak & a hint of vanilla made this SPECIAL!!
The cork was half-soaked with the level near the shoulder but it was BEAUTIFULLY aged & drank BIG!! Paired with a nice (Jenny) board, it made my week…

Enjoyed this GORGEOUS & NICELY AGED wine with a few friends at Piccolo Buco in Oakbrook, Illinois. I had a Meat & Cheese Plate & Carbonara Pizza… what a GREAT pairing!! Really good food & atmosphere there!!
It's level had fallen to nearly the shoulder & the cork broke at the middle at openng, but the wine still had a LOT of fruit & great alcohol. Nice Nebbiolo notes of cherry & earth elements, as well as leather & heavy tannins. Slight separation of color & medium legs under the light. This wine felt BIG!!
I was shocked at how nicely it held up to the aging!! What a keeper all these years!!
