The name Leese-Fitch is a building in Sonoma where the winery owners, part of the Sebastiani clan, have their offices. They make a bevy of tasty wines (MooBuzz, Hey Mambo, Plungerhead, White Knight) so I guess the building’s moniker was as good a candidate as anything else. Name aside, this 2009 Leese-Fitch California Chardonnay is most appealing as it bursts with aromas of ripe Lychee nut, tropical melon, and crisp Anjou Pear. After the initial blast of fruit aromas of roasted chestnut, vanilla, caramel, apple, and an ample dose of rich French Oak come to the front. The palate is full-bodied with a fresh entry, medium weight mid-palate, with a creamy, lingering finish that is pretty long on pleasure. This has great balance, with rich fruit notes, and memorable creaminess.
The plurality of fruit here comes from Mendocino which probably explains the low price. But this wine is able to stand on its own with other, more expensive wines. By the way, another aspect I like about the Leese-Fitch is it has a Zork Cork, so all one does is twist the thing off, pour a glass, then recap it. If I owned a restaurant this wine would be a natural choice.

From Sergio - opulent blend of (50%) Cabernet, (30%) Sangiovese, and (20%) Merlot. It offers delicious fruit on the nose with lively mineral notes and a long, balanced finish. 2010 - 2016

8/17/2018 11:32:00 AM - Please allow me to introduce myself. We live in ATL and come down to HHI every year where we have a timeshare at Marriott Grande Ocean. I'm President of the Sommelier Guild of Atlanta and a serious oenophile. We typically get together with some we know who are as serious, and live in HHI but they are out of town this trip. If you're interested in getting together and sharing (more than) a few bottles of wines PM me virtualg@bellsouth.net
Ombra, Trattoria Divina and others have been good to us. To be sure you know the local dining scene well.
