This wine is starting to come into maturity. deep red color. slight separation on the edge, alludes to great concentration. Delightful, light nose of fresh red fruit and some balsam. very fresh on the palate. depth to this wine, and starts to open up after as we drink it over 2 hours (no decant). very enjoyable. excellent bottle and i'm happy based on the $54 i paid for it 2 years ago. complexity is there: some red raspberry, but not over done and certianly not jammy, thankfully. tannin is light, and backbone is there, so will likely peak in next 2-3 years. completely pleasurable to drink and like the best wines, showed additional dimensions with dinner (roast chicken) we had with it.

  • 1989 Château Palmer

Drank new years eve dec 31, 1999. Color shows only slight appearance of aging; deep ruby, purple with slight darkened red/brownish edge. As cork released, frangrance immediately flows out of bottle. Nose wonderfully sweet, floral. Very fragrant. Did not decant, but opened bottle for 30-45 min before consuming. Immediate lush fruit on the forepalate. Red and blue fruit becomes very full and well rounded on the mid-palate. Very sweet black cherry fruit. Finishes with moderate to light tannin, though unobtrusive. Mint note on the finish. Fruit and tannin at first seem somewhat disjointed, but throughout the hour over which it was drunk, they integrate and become seamless. Very ripe and round fruit. As the bottle was finished, the initial mint noted on the palate has turned to cinammon - very interesting. Fragrant nose and sweet fruit with out parallel. Wine obviously had 10-15 years easy potential.

  • 1998 Château La Grave a Pomerol Trigant de Boisset

From memory, drank jan14, 2012. Attractive purple color. Concentration tight to the rim. Lovely violet nose and fore palate; ripe blue and red berries with still some vibrancy; showing no signs of coming apart on the palate or finish; small-ish; great pomerol terrior \ wine-making expression. This wine is complete, good structure, pedigreed breeding, very pleasing. Exquisite - the essence of Pomerol. Makes me want to get a bunch more.
