smell was concentrated. Taste was initially refined, very smooth. Finish left me cold. For a wine and vintage rated this highly, I was a little disappointed. Great wine, but I was hoping it would be a memorable one.
Drank the '05 Pavie over 2 days. It had a great taste, although more like a CA cab than a Bordeaux. The singularity of taste and the fruit forward nature of the wine was a little disappointing. In a Bordeaux, I like to experience other sensations than just the fruit, especially on the mid-palate. The finish was not bad, just not memorable. I guess I shouldn't have been disappointed because Pavie is engineered this way. That's why RP has always been a big Pavie fan. My cab friends will really enjoy the '05 Pavie, I just think you can get the same joy from something like Pride at a lesser price.
