Halitosis on the nose at opening; let the bottle breathe for a day or two (i forget which) after which the nose was of chocolate and cherries - lovely. Palate was quite nice throughout, despite initially icky nose.

my bottle appears to have encountered extreme cold sufficient to cause the cork to push halfway out, ripping the foil, but i drank it anyway. the most impressive "nose" of any wine i've encountered, and delicious. i read somewhere that it's full of black cherries, and that sounds about right. more than that i really cannot tell, being pretty new to wine and relatively uneducated therein. i can only say i enjoyed this wine very much and hope to secure a case while it's still available.

blend: 94% Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, 5% Dunnigan Hills Syrah, 1% Tannat

this is an inexpensive wine that's enjoyable if allowed to breathe for at least 15 minutes before drinking. you're not going to impress anybody with it, but it's fine for those situations where you don't ask your wine to impress anybody. i sometimes like to drink a bottle of wine while i watch a movie alone at home, for example, and - again, provided it's allowed sufficient time to breathe - this is fine for that. likewise relaxed dinners or other relaxing times with my girlfriend when we want wine and neither of us is feeling too picky about the specifics. just don't forget to let it breathe, because if you do (forget, i mean), you'll probably find nothing to recommend this wine at all. did i mention that it needs to breathe?
