Love what rich volcanic soil does to the cab grape! Nice dark florals and earth on the nose which give way to boysenberry syrup and mocha on the tongue. Tannins are well integrated but prevalent enough to give the wine some back edge grip. Touches of acidity don't compromise the fruit which I do sometimes experience with Washington State cabs... another 3-5 years will be a great drinking window for this wine.

Wow! Tasted a year ago and again a month ago. Decanted for 30 minutes and it opened up beautifully. Incredible structure and balance with a weighted briar-like nose of crushed dried twigs and blueberries. Tons of chocolate and rich, dark stags leap fruit on the palate. Another good 5 years and I'll have this straight from the bottle... Can't wait!

Had side by side with the 2009 Eisele. Drank straight from the bottle. Great back-end acidity lends this wine incredible balance! Touches of allspice, eucalyptus and vanilla on the nose. Dark cherry, currant and tart blackberry linger on the palate for a good minute.
