So much going on here. Decanted for an hour, should've done longer. Nose is tight but dense with black currant, truffle, leather, cigar, prune, kalamata olive and cedar jumping from the glass. Tastes massive despite being a little closed, a pleasant marriage of dark fruit and all of the above aromatics with broad, chewy tannins. Finishes long, with lingering notes of chocolate and pipe tobacco. Great now, but will definitely benefit from a few years of cellaring.

Lovely nose, thick with black currant, blackberry, violet and brioche. Fruit forward, as all of Grant's wines tend to be, dark fruit mixing with espresso in a nicely balanced merlot-type tannic structure. I catch a bit of prune on the finish, which lasts about 20 seconds. Very nice now, will probably continue to improve for 8-10 years.

Paired with seared sea scallops over pasta with a lemon alfredo sauce. Tight nose with tart apple and stone. I thought the taste stayed with the Macintosh apple type acidity, didn't present much citrus, but had a nice undertone of minerals, banana and creme brûlée. Very clean, quick finish. A nice poolside wine, but just a gorgeous pairing with the scallops.
