Bought two cases on recommendation of a wine professional friend. Sorry I did. Everyone who has tasted this wine has rejected it. It's bitter, watery, unpleasant on the nose, and unbalanced. Maybe I'll use it in my wine classes to demonstrate what a wine should not be.

Mac McDonald consistenly produces Pinot Noirs that bridge the stylistic gap between California and Burgundy. The sweet fruit is up front, with characteristic strawberry and some darker flavors, but there's some earth and terrior on the midpalate. Nicely balanced.

I think it's worth 90-91 points, but not more than that. Despite its reputation, it's....obvious. Huge and jammy on the nose, certainly mouthfilling and satisfying. A huge wine. But it lacks elegance and finesse. Despite the traditional Bordeaux blend, it's a California wine without question. Not that I didn't enjoy it, because I'm sitting on a case of it. Big stuff.
