  • 2012 Williamson Wines Clarissa Vin Rouge

Quality fruit shows through - Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon with just a touch of Petit Verdot and Malbec - all working together to create this sublime wine in the style of Château Haut-Brion.

On the palate the wine has rich substance and while rather soft and caressing, it shows wonderful character, freshness and acidity. It has a very bright finish, and great length.

Originally designed by Bill to drink without food this wine nevertheless is excellent paired with simple, direct foods such as hamburger, steak, dense white fish and white meats, like chicken or pork.

    Tasting Notes

Dense. opaque with a dark ruby edge the color promises depth of flavor to come and it doesn't disappoint. In the mouth an incredible, balanced cornucopia of dark flavors, lic
orice, blackberry, walnut and sultana. You are left with a wonderful silken finish leaving only one feeling - "I want more!"

  • 2013 Williamson Wines Ravish Melange

The aroma begins with a pure Bordeaux nose but without the traditional French "barnyard", then on second sniff there it is - the promise of good things to come.

Incredibly soft in the mouth yet there it is again, that promise of powerful wine which could easily ravage your senses.

Sipping at first, you are encouraged to take a mouthful of its concentrated flavors. There you find the youth in this wine. Spicy cranberry and raspberry on the tongue, a touch of mineral in the center pallet and a finish of caramel coffee with just a hint of chocolate. All the right flavors are there, but they are muted by the youth of the wine.

Give this baby five years in the bottle and you will not want to share it but if you want to drink it now, just make sure you have something with it like As Monte cheese to help separate the flavors.

    Winemaker Notes

The 2013 vintage exceeded our expectations on both quality and quantity. Rare as it was to have another fruitful year right after the record breaking 2012 crush, the quality across all varietals was also excellent.

The overall vigor of this growing season was high which required more canopy management and more vigilance with regard to pest abatement. The harvest began and finished early, the timing of crop maturity being dictated entirely by our canopy management practices and manually reduced crop load.

By addressing canopy management and green fruit harvesting early we were able to significantly reduce pest pressure and encourage early fruit ripening. The final wine quality in tank was excellent across the board for all varietals and appellations.
