  • 2010 Herencia Del Padri Priorat

Bernard Magrez is a great wine producer... He bought these brilliant vineyards in Priorat but they had a little too much hype at first and these wines were sold for $60 but $60 Priorat wasn't really selling. Now he knocked back the oak time and squeezed out a little more juices so basically your getting way more bang for your buck!
Nose- Very concentrated Aromatics of Bluberry and Blackberry you get a candied lavander note as well with that classic Priorate slate minterality and spice.
Palate- medium body concentrated flavours of Bluberry, blackberry and a little purple flower and cassis note. Also big slate minerality character though out the wine.
Finish- dry with nice tannin structure they grip wonderfully and the finish lingers lovely with the perfect amount of spice / heat and that classic minterality.
Overall- 2010 was a great vintage 60% Grenache 40% Caraninan great wine for the value !

  • 2013 Caruso & Minini Nero d'Avola Terre di Giumara

Look: beautiful deep red color with purple hue
Nose: exciting sweet bing cherry, creme de cassis, almond and a slight earthy quality showing underneath.
Taste: Inviting full body and silky mouthfeel. Lovely cherry found in the nose as well as creme de cassis with great Nero D'Avola character of almond and earth.
Finish: great mouthwatering acidity that leads to a silky smooth medium finish. Wish it held on Longer but a tasty finish that compliments the palate.
Overall: A great Nero D' Avola it's simple but with great purity and freshness. I see all the delineated characteristics of a good Nero D' Avola an this one is absolutely delicious for $15 you won't be disappointed!

  • 2012 Estancia Meritage Reserve

I've always like Estancia and their Meritage is a good buy especially if you know as well as like Paso Robles.
Color: beautful ruby color with darker purple garnet hue's.
Nose: lots of sweet cherry, chocolate, with some spice and Carmel/vanilla notes.
Palate: Nice cherry flavors with plummy hints and loads of chocolate. Nice Paso quality's with lifting acidity concentration and terroir. Also a very inviting soft mouth feel even with some nice tannins.
Finish: Ripe cherry and chocolate flavours continue but with a nice minerality and spice note. Tannins have medium grip but the softness of the wine makes this have a synergy with balance.
Overall: a strait forward Paso Robles wine and if you know what your buying it's good wine and the quality is there but Santa Margarita Hills has more
Interesting soils / Varaitels and it shows in the complexity of their wines one of my favorite go to's are for Atlas Peak and Daou before they became so expensive haha
