Opened this tonight and was much more impressed than i anticipated. Dark color and eloquent nose. Smooth rich mouthfeel with balanced integrated tannins and a pronounced finish. Lots of fruit but far from a jammy bomb. Pretty much what I'm looking for in a Napa cab.

Like many other people, I was really expecting more from this. Dark ruby color, but not too dense. Wonderful 98 point nose full of all that classis CdP goodness. A little acidic and rather tannic really throughout the whole palate. Each sip was a little different and if I directed the wine to certain parts of my mouth first it was much more enjoyable, but overall it left me unfulfilled.

Opened this tonight to celebrate the beginning of Chateau Bogrumpus. Just closed escrow on 10 acres of dirt about 1 mile from Cayuse's Cailloux vineyard.
Opened at 6pm and completely wound up. Just a ball of fruit and pepper. 1 hour later, no change. 2 hours, no change. 3 hours beginning to open, and 3:30 finally beginning to show. All along, a powerful nose of smoke, pepper, pain grille, and cherry and dark fruit.
Initial tartness and I suspect higher acidity. Now, this is beginning to subside and the elegance that everyone is talking about is coming out. Ruby/ox-blood color with a tinge of purple and rust. Very smooth and velvety with lots of spice and perfume. Overall, more medium-bodied with light jamminess and subtle tannins that are very well integrated. Not as much of the meat and game that others are noting. I keep trying to ignore the acidity, but it's just there.
Not what I expected, but a very good wine nonetheless. I think I'm going to open the 1995 Chapoutier Pavillon that was next to it in the cellar tomorrow to try to find what I was looking for. I had visions of an 05 Alban Lorraine which is my gold standard for a 100 point wine.
