  • 2011 Easton House

Not advertised, but a field blend red. After drinking a VERY popular and expensive field blend zin (rhymes with The LISTENER), I sought out field blend reds that were less expensive. This was a very rough blend. Astringent bitterness that I couldn't determine where it was coming from; not from tannins. Nothing smooth about it, initially drank chilled and then decanted for 1 hour. Softened up slightly after breathing, or maybe it was just from warming. The best way I can describe it is clunky. Take a drink, have a clunk of bitterness on the palate and then no lasting finish. Will not drink again. I think I'll shell out an extra 10 bones for THE LISTENER.

  • 2011 Château Magence Blanc

By far my favorite Bordeaux Blanc that I've had. Lemon-forward, chalky, high acidity and bone dry. Drank chilled in 2015. Sauv Blanc and Semillion come together to make a mouth-watering (literally, due to high acidity) light and minerally wine. First bottle consumed alone and second bottle paired with spicy Asian pasta; it was fantastic.

  • 2013 Raats Chenin Blanc Original

Mostly 98% dry. Minerally, tropical, grassy, acidic. Similar to a Bordeaux blanc! Maybe with a little more tropical fruitiness to it than a Bord. I would have wished for a liiiiiittle more acidity and 100% dry, but I expected less and got more with this guy. -
