Let bottle breath for 2hrs then sipped and decanted for another hour. Still not completely open. Spice and cedar on the nose. Oak, cedar, vanilla, and some red fruit on a very dry finish. Paired nicely with short-rib ragú and risotto. After dinner, it opened up and the fruit started to become more pronounced.

Warm orange/garnet in the glass. Spice, forest floor, leather, and some cherry on the nose. Fruit, spices, tea, and tobacco on a smooth palate with soft dusty tannins on the finish. Not complex. Lighter than anticipated. It's a nice food wine and went well with our meal of breaded chicken cutlets and an Italian salad. It developed further over the course of the evening so I believe this wine still has some life left.

A one hour decant. Paired with homemade beef & ricotta manicotti. Warm garnet in the glass. Spice & pepper then some fruit on the nose. Spice, cedar, anise, green olive, and wet stone on the front of the palate and then dark ripe fruit, tobacco, cocoa, and leather on a moderate/long dry finish. As the evening progressed, the ripe fruit became more pronounced. A really nice wine with red sauce pasta dishes.
