  • 2016 Domaine Huet Vouvray Demi-Sec Le Haut-Lieu

Another Oxidized Huet. Poured the color of dark honey and tasted like cooked fruit. Much more advanced than it should be, advanced to the point of dead. Other bottles from the same order and vintage have shown well. Middle aged Huet has been a roll of the dice for me lately.

Purchased and cellared properly since release.

  • 2011 Matello Pinot Noir Souris

Decanted for an hour before drinking. Little to no sediment in the bottle. On the nose red fruit with the littlest bit of tertiary character coming through. A bit of alcohol heat present. In the mouth, tannins are still present and the nose translates through in red fruit again. Long long finish. Overall a delightful wine and absurd QPR. I have one bottle left and I’m in no hurry to open it. Should hold a decade plus.

  • 2010 Château Branas Grand-Poujeaux

decanted an hour and drank out of a Glasvin Aromatic. The wine looks inky colored with little to no bricking at the edges. There is moderate sediment in the bottle, nothing a quick decant doesn't take care of. On the nose fig, lead pencil, black currant, and black cherry. The wine tannins are receding and tertiary flavors are starting to peek past the fruit. A bit thin without the silky mouthfeel you'd see on a higher end bottle. A slightly bitter/astringent streak on the back end. short/medium finish.

Overall, this is a perfectly fine 12 year old bottle of wine. The nose is better than the taste. Not something I would seek out, but definitely an enjoyable bottle.
