This is the third of six from the same case, all of which were stored identically at 57 since delivery in 2003. The three were all consumed in the last 6 weeks or so. All were tasted periodically over a 4 to 6 hour decant and then consumed with dinner. The first was on the edge of bad but still drinkable but not likable with copious granular tannic sediment. The second was ok but not worth the time and money with similar sediment. The third tonight was magnificent with roundness, balance, typical Bordeaux bouquet and flavors and a nice medium viscosity and only a little sediment particularly for the age. There was no hint of port. The color of all three were very similar, a mature medium garnet. It is hard to understand the wide range of difference. So with three to go, one can hope for more like the third. I'd score the third bottle a 90.

The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are fast. There is no sediment in the bottle. Taste is not like any decent new or old world pinot noir I've tasted. While the bouquet is not unpleasant, the taste and mouth feel are dislikable enough to stop the wine consumption by a dinner party of seven dead in it's tracks. Pouring it down the drain after one's money is the kindest solution here. Part of the WSJ subscription. (cancelled) I thought, how far wrong could you go? Very stupid. WSJ should be embarrassed.
