Black cherry, current and herbs on the powerful nose. This is a true beast of a merlot. Plum, black cherry, current, oak, a hint of milk chocolate and a whisper of tea. It's very polished with oak, but packs jolting, lasting power. The finish slams home the point. I'm glad to be drinking this in all its brash glory.

39% cab, 39% merlot, 22% cabernet franc. Aged Bordeaux nose of cured meats, blackcurrent and a hint of tobacco. Currents are more noticeable on the palate. Spicy on the palate with lively current and plum, oak spice and a definitely chocolate. Solid in the mid-palate with a decent, if slightly tangy finish. At $20, this is a fine value for a Bordeaux blend.

Dark ruby color. On the nose, dark fruits such as black cherry, blackberry and plum predominate. Heavy oak spice on the palate, with spice, a hint of tobacco, baker's chocolate and dark fruits. The oak spice is much heavier than I expected, somewhat crowding out other elements. Consistent throughout, with a solid mid-palate and a rushing, spicy finish. It is not as profound as I remembered, but still very good and definitely worth revisiting.
