Seems past drinkability. Decanted for an hour; rust hue, hints of cherry, vanilla and earth. Another 1/2 hour and it was all gone, leaving bitter tannins and acid in the glass. Cork was a little fragile so wonder if this was the issue

After an hour, predominant notes of leather, burned rubber (!), tight tannins. Took several more hours for the smokey overtones to subside and the underlying youth of the wine comes through. Acid/tannins balanced well, wine mellows by the next day. Some fruit, oak.
Well beyond its peak, but a graceful decline. An interesting example of a burgundy at the end of its drinkable life. Retaining hints of its past, light, delicately musty and some fruit, tiny note of tannins, nice acid balance. Color is red-brown and needs a few hours to air before trying. Worthy companion to soft cheese, though anything more robust will overwhelm the remaining delicate palate.

Worth a re-visit in 5 years, at least.
