No detailed notes - dinner with the Quicks. Nose was off for a few minutes, then blew clear to a decent smell. Wine is maturing nicely, with lots of bright fruit still present. Finish medium in length and good. I really enjoyed this bottle, best I can remember for this wine and vintage. Early / mid maturity, plenty of time still to enjoy this. Tannins still present, but smooth and resolving nicely. Many '98 right banks disappointed early, but are now coming on strong.

Color bright, clarity very good, no bricking whatsoever. Aromas of raspberry liqueur and spice. Excellent fruit in the initial attack, which held nicely in the mid palate. Medium length finish, tannins mostly resolved but still present. A delicious, smooth wine that pleases. I'll call this at or near its peak, but will likely last several years. What a treat to consume - a 180 degree reversal from the last bottle I consumed four years ago.

I didn't take notes on this bottle, as we were at a get-together and tasting notes weren't on the agenda. This wine is still packing plenty of fruit, and was liked by some at the evening event. But, to me this wine was disjointed. The early attack was pleasant, but the mid palate and finish had no harmony or satisfaction for me.
