Fresh floral notes and nice tropical fruit. Apricots, citrus (hints of lemon zest), white peppers, and minerality on the palate. Long. Post-bbq beef palate cleanser that turned out really well.

Lokoya Tasting: A lovely nose of dark fruit of blackberries and blueberry, violets, candied cherry, herbs and smoky aromas. The palate was complex but not interesting. There is fruit, with a backbone of nice minerality, cool herbs, hints of forest floor yet it maintains a really nice freshness for a 10yr old wine. It is smooth and long and the silky tannins are still present. It is impressive but not spectacular. My host expected me to be blown away but this wine lacks finesse. Tasted alongside the 2014 Mt Veeder, I think both wines seem to be of lesser quality than the super seconds in Bordeaux, but greater finesse than the third growths. To everyone his own, but with 2015 Pichon Lalande and Pichon Baron still fresh in my memory, Lokoya’s wines fail to impress (or live up to its hype). 95pts

Lokoya Tasting: Loads of fruit, long and just too young to drink now. It is not punchy but it packs a great deal of weight. It will benefit from aging but there is little sign to suggest that this will be an elegant wine. Over-extraction? Tasted alongside the 2007 Lokoya Mt Veeder and when tasting both side by side, one must doubt whether wine is meant to be grown at an elevation of >1,500 ft. 95-pts.
