Accompanied a bbq rib eye, the Tuscans have their Florentine (T-bone). Anyway , by repute, 2005 not the best year, but as is often the case a lesser vintage is brilliant with food. This is v.good Classico and I paid 13. 50 €, about £10, for it in the Greve Enoteca last year. It's most important characteristics are the velvety feel and lovely nose. It melts into the food. Drink this now.

I tasted an '83 back in '01 and that was brilliant, smoky, spicy stuff, and hoped for more of the same. This had a nice bouquet, mushrooms, prunes, and was still holding its colour, but unfortunately tasted of raisins, and so I would say had gone over.

Red, flat, and boring, what a disappointment.
