I am sometimes wary of wineries whose reputations precede them, but this was possibly the best Sauvignon Blanc I’ve ever had. Incredibly aromatic, with notes of passion fruit, lime, and grapefruit leaping from the glass, but balanced by high acid and a steak of slate minerality. Definitely worth the price.

Not bad for a $10 pinot noir. Upon opening, red fruits like pomegranate jumped from the glass, but after some breathing it settled into a more spicy example with notes of clove coming on particularly strong.

It was interesting to witness this bottle evolve after being opened. At first, it displayed strong aromas of tobacco and smoke and an off-note that smelled like brettanomyces. But then as those aromas dissipated it it began to display more pleasant notes of ripe dark fruit, vanilla, and tobacco. The acidity was still somewhat high, so I suspect it could have benefited from more age. Nonetheless it was a good example of a more old world-style red.
