  • 2014 The Black Chook Shiraz Viognier

This is "The Formula's" red headed step brother. Not nearly as good. Opened after consuming the formula and the difference was quite noticeable. Although this was un-aged, I opened it the night I bought it, I have had both before and prefer The Formula.

  • 2008 Small Gully Shiraz The. Formula Robert's

Dark garnet red. Long legs. Black cherry, vanilla notes. Sweet and oaky. High alcohol/hot and a nice smooth full mouth finish. Typical Barossa but much more robust. 2008 vintage consumed in 2016. Decanted for an hour. Cellar temp. Very nice And really enjoyed on its own without food. Definitely not past its prime. Newer vintages are definitely bolder with the high alcohol. Much sweeter and less full bodied with the generous aging. More developed. I would recommend giving this wine a resting period of a few years for it to reach its fullest potential. I buy and drink this immediately often. I really need to exhibit more patience with this one. Glad I have another 7 resting.
