Clean, pronounced intensity, aromas of ripe black cherry, black currant, ripe black plum, prune, fig, cooked cherry, oregano, dried herbs, black pepper and liqourice, dried and cooked fruit.
Palate
Sweet, medium (+) acidity, medium soft ripe tannins, high alcohol, full body, pronounced flavour intensity, luscious flavours of black cherry, black currant, black plum, prune, fig, cooked cherry, oregano, dried herbs, black pepper and liquorice, smoke, and a long finish.
Conclusions
This wine is balanced, the intense aroma and flavours are met with sweetness and a good acidity, ripe tannins and high alcohol. It is very complex with aromas and flavours from the black fruit, herbal and spice categories, and tertiary notes of dried and cooked fruits. The finish goes on for a long time and maintains the flavour sensations; and altogether this is nothing else than an outstanding quality wine.
This wine with its pronounced fruit flavours and aromas, and pronounced tertiary characteristics, and together with its sugar sweetness, its tannins and the medium(+) acidity and high alcohol is likely to keep for many more years and should develop further tertiary notes. It is suitable for further bottle ageing.
APPEARANCE. A clear wine, ruby colour of pale intensity. NOSE. On the nose a clean condition, with aromas of medium (+) intensity. Aromas include rose, red currant, red and black cherry, blackberry, and some herbal notes of fennel and thyme and some liqourice. The fruits appear ripe and there is also some dried prune. There are also vanilla and smoke notes, earth, mushroom, meat, tobacco, and forest floor aromas. PALATE. On the palate the wine is dry with high acidity, medium (-) ripe, soft, smooth tannins, medium alcohol, medium body, with medium flavours of red currant, red and black cherry, blackberry, and liqourice. The fruits appear ripe and also some dried prune. There are vanilla and smoke notes, and savoury earth, mushroom, meat, tobacco, and forest floor flavours. The finish is long with nice lingering of the fruit and savoury elements. CONCLUSIONS. This is a very good wine, which has complexity in aromas and flavours and a good balance of flavours with ripe tannins, and medium alcohol. The high acidity was perhaps slightly out of balance and was apparent as a bit tart on the palate, but not on the finish, which prevents a rating of outstanding. The wine is at an optimal drinking stage, and is unlikely to improve further with fruits that will decline over time and tannins that already are smooth and ripe. With the acidity unlikely to change, and therefore a potential for increasing imbalance, this wine is not suitable for bottle ageing.

Pale garnet. Aromas of rose, violet, red cherry, red currant, raspberry, vanilla, tobacco, smoke, tar, black pepper. Medium intensity, fully developed. On the palate, dry, high acidity, high tannins, high alcohol, full body. Similar flavours as the aromas. Pronounced flavour intensity. Long finish. An outstanding wine which can be drunk now but has potential for further ageing.
