Opened via Coravin to pair with red-wine braised oxtail. Mushrooms, dirt, red meat on the nose. Strong fruity attack, elegant mid-palate, medium finish. Medium acidity and tannins. Better than expected at this age. Good with the food.

Opened via Coravin to accompany red-wine braised oxtail, carrots, and celeriac, with polenta. Extremely dark color (no bricking). Open and lovely nose of graphite, wintergreen, and currants. Medium acidity and tannins. Perfect balance. Lots of fruit on the palate. This is a big wine that matched the food. Has a lot of life left to it. My wine group has done only one Portuguese wine tasting and I bought an extra bottle of the one I brought. Based on tonight's tasting, I think we should revisit Portugal.
