Straight out of the bottle There’s distinctive spice and minerality on the nose, along with currant and a bit of alcohol. On the palate there’s good structure even after just opening. A bit dry (in a good way) I assume largely due to the Petite Verdot. Fruit comes forward on the palate, tart cherry and currant with that minerality and slight leather coming in after and giving a very nice finish. A little tight, but not too much, just needs a little air.
After an hour of decanting the nose gives way to more of that darker fruit, currant and cherry, and overtones of spice. Alcohol cleared out from the decanting. On the palate, wow. Multiple layers and depth here and a lot to think through. Mouthfeel is warm and silky and similar to the nose, the fruit has come more forward but in a very balanced way. The finish goes on for a while and keeps you wanting more.
Overall a fantastic wine and a steal at the price point, clearly punching above its weight class. Highly recommended.

Not too much to this wine. Light nose for a cab, mostly fruit but you can pick up a bit of that American oak from the bourbon barrel. On the palate the fruit comes through predominantly. Not much tannin structure, certainly towards the sweeter side for a cab. Overall okay at the price point of a daily drinker, but not a stunner.

Fun and fresh wine, pairs great on a number of red-meat main courses. On the light end of medium bodied, fruit forward and white pepper backed. Simple but nice finish. Expect cherry and a hint of raspberry out of the gate, characteristic French minerality quick to follow. Easy to enjoy, so go enjoy it.
