  • 1987 Château Gruaud Larose

    This wine is still very good. Decanted about one-half hour before drinking with light sediment in the bottle. Deep chocolate nose with vanillla and cedar hints. Rim was starting to turn amber but good color remained. Good fruit throughout, excellent balance and just a hint of remaining tannin and acid in the finish. At the end of the dinner (about 2 and one-half hours ofter decanting) the wine sarted to lose some fruit in the middle of the wine. Had it not been for that, the score would have been higher.

  • 1994 Château La Fleur Milon

    Had this wine at Manny's Steakhouse in Minneapolis. Best bargain on the wine list. Wine was decanted for about one-half hour before drinking. Classic Bordeaux nose of cassis and vanilla. Color was still very deep with just a little amber on the rim. All the tannins had softened and no apparrent acid; but not yet flabbby. Excellent accompaniment to a old-fashioned steak dinner following a couple of martinis.
