This wine has been in my cellar since the early 90s and I decided to inaugurate my new Riedel Sommelier Grand Cru Burgundy wine glasses with … a Grand Cru Burgundy. The color is still deep burgundy with touches of amber at the edges. The wine’s nose is that of a mature burgundy with great terroir with just a hint of “barnyard” notes (which I enjoy). The fruit (cassis, dark berries) has managed to persist for 34 years with a perfect balance and no acute edges. Finish is subtle but long. I think this wine is at (or just slightly beyond) its peak. I will need to find an excuse to open my remaining bottles in the very near future. 😉

Dark garnet in color and the nose is amazing! I don’t understand some of the previous notes as the nose in my glass is wonderful - lots of terroir and deep dark fruit - much like a young Bordeaux that likes to smack you across the room with a baseball bat. On the palate there is depth to the fruit (it may age well) with some moderate tannins. Balance is a touch off but the finish is adequately long. I had a fair amount of sediment - more than I would expect after 6 years so I decanted and filtered. Amazing value that I wasn’t expecting. Thanks for reading.

Wonderful! Light in color but intoxicating nose that screams BURGUNDY. Lots of subtle fruit - red berries, cassis, ripe strawberries - with fantastic depth and nuance. The finish goes on and on - not bad for a 33 year old!
