The first bottle I had this year (early Dec. 2010) had significantly more fresh fruit and less body than last year's release, which was thrilling--fraught with luxurious nut skins, dried apricot, and rich, round yeast. The second bottle I drank from the current release (Dec. 26 2010) featured more demure fruit and more potently nutty Marsanne notes (much closer to last year's profile). My hopes were buoyed and I bought another one! Thinking it might mellow a bit more with time.

The 2009 incarnation of Annees Folles is in fact a blend of Pineau d'Aunis and Chenin Blanc.
