Opened six hours before. A deep ruby core fading to a pale ruby outer edge. Intense aromas of damp herbs inside a brown paper bag, slowly braised lamb, black liquorice, and baked damsons. Concentrated and seriously structured - this wine clearly has years of future aging potential ahead and while there’s no shortage of enjoyment right now for those who prefer Châteauneuf-du-Pape at its most intense there is undeniable upside in the next five to ten years.

Opened last night and finished tonight. Does not come across like a typical Chateauneuf; Grenache not as much in evidence as it usually is. Could it be the aging has muted it a bit? Whether or not, I like this more than most CdPs I have had lately. Seems to have all the component parts molded into a fine, complex, pretty wine. Age doesn't really show much. Tertiary elements are asserting themselves, but there is plenty enough fruit to keep things interesting. Nice bramble and tobacco, too. 5-12-16-8: 91/100.

This wine has been a great selection. The bottle was opened for 1+ hours before dinner. It is still drinking well, but I will drink up the last two bottles over the next year plus. Over the years, I have had some CNdPs go south quickly. No reason to risk that with something that is so good.

Beautiful! Brimming with Grenache sweet fruit with an underlayment of what I suspect is Mourvèdre. We filtered and let open briefly in a decanter. There were significant lees. Terrific mouthfeel that invited us to drink up!

Limited notes taken. Damp herbs, plums, damsons, and liquorice with huge concentration. Very dense and rich, but not fat, plenty acid.
