14.5% alcohol. Short anonymous cork of reasonable quality, but hey it did the job as there is virtually no wine penetration. Dark impenetrable colour all the way to the rim. Lovely dark fruited nose (mostly fresh but some lightly stewed too) with liquorice in evidence too. Juicy and energetic in the mouth with a substantial uplift in the finish thanks to superbly judged acidity. The alcohol does not impinge, and the overall impression is of a much fresher wine than typical for Gigondas; good grip too. True to the Montirius style which downplays opulence. A success without a doubt, and in perfect condition at age ten.

14.5% alcohol. G 80%, Mrvdr 20% (in the vineyard). Short cork, but very dense and showing no wine penetration. The colour is dark with no sign of ageing. The nose has olives at first, followed by liquorice, redcurrant coulis, and a pleasant pharmaceutical note. Very vivid in the mouth with superb wild berries and an invigorating acidity in the finish. The alcohol level is perceptible only through its secondary effects (as in do not drive afterwards); otherwise a balanced wine without any excess of opulence. In excellent condition. I don't think that I have ever been disappointed by a bottle of Montirius of any denomination; individual winemaking of outstanding quality.

80% G, 20% M. Not fresh, it was under casual cellar condition. Garnet with brown hue. Dry plum, earthy and meaty ( in pleasant way), some white pepper and dry herbals. Rustic tannins, warm alcohol. Medium bodied, Some soy sauce in m+ finish.
A rustic and honest wine.

14.5% alcohol. Good short dense cork with no wine penetration. Dark colour with some thinning at the edge of the rim. The nose is subdued before swirling, as so often with Rhône wines; elegant blackberry aromas upon swirling. The mouth is several steps ahead, with blackberries again and a suggestion of blueberries, a superb balance and a lively finish; no undue alcohol heat, and no oak whatever. This is not a Gigondas which tries to emulate CNdP. A very stylish wine and a repeat purchase.
