A simple wine, but well made and quite tasty. Strawberry jam, some woodsmoke and earth, nice acidity. Overpriced, at $44, but for a 14 yr. old red burg, not bad.

Confirm my tasting note from yesterday - this is much better than the first bottle, which I think was indeed flawed. Not extraordinary but a very nice wine nonetheless.

Similar notes to last time except that this bottle was definitely not flawed - no sign of any cork taint and fruit palate much fuller. Secondary flavours still not particularly developed, blackcurrant very dominant. Tannins completely integrated. Medium length at best. Showing that this is a very nice wine without being anything amazing. Drink over the next 12-18 months I'd say.

1999 Red Burgundy Tasting with Friends (Chez Moi, Paris): Clear, medium purple red, slightly watery rim, no sign of ageing. Clean nose, fairly intense blackcurrant and cherry nose, very little secondary flavours. Possible hint of cork taint but not obvious. Sweet palate, fairly rustic fruit flavours, rather flat with little development, short to medium length. Overall disappointing - least preferred bottle of our 1999 Burgundy tasting evening, although we did wonder if the bottle was flawed. My note reflects what we thought on the night.

Way too young. Needs more time in the cellar.
