  • Retail $40. Well, there is not much more that I can add to the previous notes other than this is the last bottle (not to be confused with Last Bottle) of six bottles of this wine that I purchased from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) back in 2011 for $20 (while there were the occasional deals such as this one, the PLCB was close to a complete disaster). Back then, if you told me that I would be drinking this bottle in Houston, Texas just past the four-year anniversary of moving into our house, I am not sure what I would have said, but I certainly would not have referred to you as "Nostradamus." The wine has held up well and fits with this beautiful Fall evening, which is likely considerably chillier in Philly. Bright fruit, tangy acidity, integrated tannins, this wine is not going to get any better folks. And neither is the PLCB for those in the Commonwealth. thedrunkncyclist.com

  • When asked what she might want to drink, my wife responded with but one word: "Pinot." Luckily, there are a few bottles of Pinot in the cellar, too many, in fact. Seeking precision, I pressed: "American? French?" She simply extended her left arm, palm facing me, and said: "Good." I think this fits the bill: great fruit (still) on the nose and the palate with cherry fruit, and bits of anise, earth, and a touch of heat (14.2%). The palate is fruity yet refined. Delicious. Due to climate change (at least in part) Gary Farrell no longer makes a Pinot from Carneros. That's indeed a shame as this is delightful. thedrunkencyclist.com

  • Well, I had mistakenly “consumed” this wine (it was actually another bottle from the same producer and same vintage). Well, I wish I had that other bottle tonight as this one is corked. Slightly corked, but corked nonetheless, which is too bad since it is clear that this would have been a good, potentially excellent bottle otherwise. Fruit, good acid, balance, but it is oh so hard to get around the funky basement smell. thedrunkencyclist.com

  • Fully mature and drinking quite well. Earth, dark cherry, rose petals. Medium to full body, proper acidity, balanced. Not overly complex, but an enjoyable drink, somewhat reminiscent of a good quality village Morey St. Denis. Drink em if you have em....

  • Doing very well, thank you very much. With climate change/global warming, Gary Farrell no longer makes this Pinot Noir so I have been fairly stingy on the bottles that remain in my cellar. Tonight? With the family over and a mini-chess tournament underway, I popped this puppy. Cherry and eucalyptus with plenty of verve. This wine is a baller, plain and simple. thedrunkencyclist.com
