nice purple color, fairly dark with good clarity, not turning brown at edges tho that is not bad just good looking without any cloudiness to it, great bouquet of cherries, vanilla, berries, maybe detecting a little alcohol aroma, but inviting, but taste is off with a plummy unpleasant type of sweetness , probably over oaked , good earthy flavors underneath but overpowered by fermented starburst candies.

Straight out of the bottle a very forward nose of Turkish Delight and spices. Full-bodied on the palate, smooth. Dark cherry, cassis and spice, but with a tinge of sweetness that was not quite my cup of tea.

A present from Andreas Scholz (Chief of the restaurant at Russischer Hof in Weimar) - an excellent red wine with a full body and a wide variety of different spices, combnes ideally with a good pepper steak and cheese.

Highly-rated Spanish wine-tasting (Watson's, Hong Kong): A single-vineyard wine. Apparently, this was the first region in Spain to grow vines. Spent 16 months in new barrels. Rich fruit nose, blackberry and violet, with a lot of oak. Very dark and full bodied, quite intense (old vines). Alcohol on the finish (15.5%). Typical Carignan bitterness. Not my thing.
