Community Tasting Notes (3)

  • When I was ignorant of Burgundy I bought 3 cases of this because Clive Coates said it was good. When I was still ignorant I drank most of it, or gave it away, because the wise men and women of Wine, those blessed with decades of experience, Noble Critics all, said this was the right time to drink it, otherwise it would turn to vinegar, or if I was lucky into a pumpkin like Cindarella's coach.
It was tight and dull and boring.
And now I have only a few bottles left, it's not vinegar, it's really nice.
Damn the wise men and women of Wine.
(Except for Clive. He was right. Though he should have explained to the ignorant when to drink it.).

  • Very pure and bright, acidity to the fore. Intense and precise and refreshing to drink. Good quality fruit, more strawberry than cherry, and a long finish with fine and satisfying tannins. Drinking well now, but no hurry. dg-

  • Mea culpa. I gave up on this a couple of years ago but I obviously tried to drink it too early. It's now drinking very well, a meaty sort of pinot with good intensity and a satisfying soft tannic finish. vg
