Deep ruby with blue tint. Aromas of black fruit and spice. Black cherry, currant, and menthol. Secondary aromas of pencil shavings and leather. Full bodied with tight acidity and robust, dusty tannins. Black fruit abounds on the palate; complimented by clove, green peppercorn, and some dried fruit. Finish is dusty with dried fruits lingering long after each sip.
Grapes for this wine were sourced from two vineyards (Haystack Vineyard, Atlas Peak and Cloud’s Nest Vineyard, Mt. Veeder) producing small concentrated grape clusters from rocky, gravelly soils. This is an intense, complex, and delicious wine!

Drank for Thanksgiving at Sam’s parents’ house. Lots of cherry on the nose and palate. Smelled really fruity on opening, but actually pretty balanced. Medium body. It’s good. Not my all-time favorite, but good.

Other notes are very accurate. Clear and very dark ruby.; black cherry on the nose. Tannins are still forward: leather and tobacco; eucalyptus and black cherry. Stands up well to ribeye and prime rib.

Had it with a Joseph Phelps CS and a 2008 Stags Leap and this held its own. All accompanied by a juicy Filet.
