  Still holding up well. In my cellar for seven years and I was worried there would be little left, but soft, almost non-existent tannins. Fruit very distinct with notes of blackberry and currant. Not a typical zin character but very pleasant after dinner.

  Pnp, with breakfast dinner, dark crianza to purple, medium body. This heady concoction reminds me of the '97 St. Francis Old Vines, in that is has the same bramble briar patch zin on the nose with smoke, pepperwood, raisin and blackberry jam. Big on the palate, with prune/plum elements and bright blue fruit, with ample tannin on the finish. The alcohol is not too potent, and this retains all classic zin characteristics. Very good. Day two, darker, more porty and pruney flavors bubbling up from the depths indicating maturity and short drink horizon.
  
  The Barbieri Vineyard was originally planted in 1905 by Italo Barbieri along Olivet Lane in Russian River Valley. The vineyard was planted almost entirely with Zinfandel and dry farmed. The Barbieri Vineyard is known for its white pepper spice. Formerly part of De Loach and then Tom Feeny Ranch (which was comprised of Barbieri, Papera, Montafi and Piner vineyards all within one mile of each other). Unsure where the grapes go now in recent vintages.

  Has matured nicely, light blueberry and spice nose, light color, medium bodied with good red and blue fruit flavors, dark cherry and spicy ginger pepper finish which was more than prior bottle, but not harsh or abrasive. A nice light Zin, not thoughtful or complex, but plenty fulfilling.

  Nice blue and black fruit on nose and palate. A touch of spice with some heat showing through. Lacked a little depth and structure compared to its RRV cousin Benovia.
