  • From a magnum which was upright for over 2 days. Opened and drank over 6 hours. Maybe most controversial wine of the night with my mark being the lowest. Specific notes were lost to the evening and only Bacchus knows them in their entirety. The wine possessed an overly rustic character marked by cloudiness and a chunky consistency which was not alleviated by being upright for more than 48 hours. While enjoyable I would not search this out.

  • Decanted and poured. Initially there was some bottle funk, but with time in the glass the wine developed quite nicely. Quite angular with moderate acidity and tannins that are resolving. Not at all over-ripe. In fact, to me it has characteristics more of the '93 vintage than '90. This wine has quite a bit of life left in it.

  • Tasted out of magnum. Fairly youthful deep ruby. The initial whiff did not bode well, with an overripe, pruny character, but amazingly, this settled down with 3 to 4 hours of air to show pleasant red fruit, some tanginess, and soil tones. Still young and rough, no elegance whatsoever but still good, and by the end of the bottle had gained a stemmy complexity with more green facets.
